It's funny how every month I feel like time has just flown by... except this one. And not to say that I think the past month was drawn out by any means. But, Clay changed so much in the last month and with a big decision sitting on our shoulders, it felt like a long month.
So, Clay turns seven months! And with this many changes to report. He is crawling super fast where if you turn your head for a split second, he is long gone when you turn back. We have managed to dissemble our coffee table and give Clay the maximum room for scooting all around. And, his new love for pulling himself up onto the sides of the couch makes it a little easier on the mind knowing he won't fall back and bonk his head on the table... now it's just the floor he will bonk his head on!
Clay is trying so hard to be a big boy and is fearless in many ways. He always wants to be standing so he can get a great view of what is going on. He is just starting to hold onto things with one hand workin' those wobbly legs to death! He loves to grasp onto your fingers as he walks (with assistance).
Daddy taught Clay to throw a ball this month which has been so fun to watch. You give him a ball and he throws it right back. Actually, if you give him anything, he is likely to throw it. He has also been having fun practicing kicking balls when he is standing. Great for working on eye-foot coordination.
A big breakthrough for Clay this month--- saying dadadadadada. Corey was so excited to get this video at work! He is also saying babababa (what we call his bottle) and lots of other babblings and sounds.
The past month has been Clay'a first month of eating baby food! I am learning he loves fruits and is taking a bit longer to come around to veggies. Sounds about right! Apples are by far his favorite and squash was by far his least favorite triggering his gag reflex letting his mama know exactly what he thinks about squash! He is a super messy eater (takes after me) but he is getting the hang of it. I have also learned this month that rice cereal could also be used as cement the way it dries and sticks to everything!
We had a great month with Clay overall. He is sleeping 12 hours at night and napping three times a day. Yay! (I am throwing a mini-party in my head right now because I am so grateful for this!) We did lots of fun stuff-- Seaworld, the Zoo, the Wild Animal Park, Coronado Island, San Clemente, Del Mar Beach, Torrey Pines Beach, lunch with daddy, Aunt Karen's bridal shower, 4th of July party at Uncle Kevin and Aunt Karen's & lunch downtown. It has been a blast!

As you may already know, the Spencers are on the move AGAIN! This time... a big one. Back to the Midwest. We spent the last month making the decision that we have been discussing over the past year. It is very bittersweet to leave behind family, friends, wonderful bosses and co-workers. But in the end, we are excited to be around more family and be able to buy a home. We will be staying with the Longfellows starting the first of September til 2012 at Big Long Lake in Indiana. We will spend time deciding what our next move will be but most likely we will be moving to Indianapolis.
We are very blessed that Corey and I will be able to keep our jobs and work from home. We work for two wonderful companies that totally embody the
family aspect. We are very lucky.
Thanks to everyone for such kind words and support on this matter over the past week. We are looking forward to starting this next chapter!!
XOXO
Leslie
